Habib Tahir funeral (Social Media)
National News: Nearly three months after the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Indian security forces launched ‘Operation Mahadev’ in the Kashmir Valley and successfully neutralized all three militants responsible for the massacre. Among them, Habib Tahir was laid to rest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)—a move that once again exposed Pakistan’s active sheltering of terrorism on the global stage.
Tensions escalated during Tahir’s funeral when Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Rizwan Hanif, accompanied by his nephew and armed aides, arrived at the site. Eyewitnesses report that the militants pointed guns at grieving family members and attendees, leading to chaos and outrage. As a result, the Lashkar members were forced to flee the gathering amidst public backlash.
Investigations have confirmed that the Pahalgam attack was orchestrated by operatives of The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy terror outfit linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba. TRF had publicly claimed responsibility for the April attack, further establishing its direct coordination with Lashkar’s strategic objectives in the region.
On 22 April 2025, three heavily armed terrorists launched a deadly assault in Pahalgam, killing 26 civilians, including one Nepali national. After weeks of intelligence gathering and search operations, security forces located the militants hiding in dense forests and neutralized them during ‘Operation Mahadev.’ Subsequently, a condolence gathering for Habib Tahir was organized on 30 July in Kuiyan village, located in PoK.
This incident is not isolated. Pakistan’s military and intelligence links to terror outfits have been repeatedly highlighted. During ‘Operation Sindoor,’ another anti-terror operation by Indian forces, dreaded terrorist Abdul Rauf—designated a global terrorist by the United States—was killed. Notably, several senior officials of the Pakistan Army were spotted attending Rauf’s funeral, further highlighting Islamabad’s ties to terror networks.
Despite frequent denials at international forums like the United Nations, Pakistan’s complicity in cross-border terrorism has been consistently documented. The attendance of Lashkar operatives and Pakistani officials at Tahir’s funeral stands as clear evidence of state-sponsored terrorism. These developments once again make it clear that the Pahalgam attackers were trained, armed, and dispatched from across the border, under the protection of Pakistan’s deep state.
